Alleged Theft at Citibank Underscores Worries Over Online Bank Robberies

The Wall Street Journal stands by its report yesterday that  the FBI is investigating a cybertheft last summer or earlier where hackers stole tens of millions of dollars electronically from Citibank.

The bank has vigorously denied such reports and in a statement assured its customers their money is safe.

President Obama Picks Cybersecurity Czar

Funding Problems, Security Upgrades Will Delay Gitmo Detainee Transfer to Rural Illionis Prison Until 2011

Amid fears that moving enemy combatants from prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to a correctional facility in rural Illinois poses an unnecessary security risk, the Obama administration says funding issues will delay the transfer of detainees until at least early 2011, according to The New York Times.

REAL ID Deadline Pushed to 2011

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has pushed back a pending deadline for state compliance with the REAL ID Act to May of 2011, averting the chaos that would have erupted Jan. 1 if people carrying newer, noncompliant state-issued IDs were unable to use them for federal purposes, like boarding commercial airline flights.

DHS Improperly Investigated and Surveilled U.S. Muslims, Documents Reveal

Documents obtained by two civil liberties organizations reveal that during the Bush administration the Department of Homeland Security improperly investigated and surveiled American Muslims who had no ties to criminal activity or terrorism. The information collected, however, was destroyed after internal processes uncovered the violations of intelligence oversight guidelines.
